Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how TUSC Studio ("Side Quest," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Side Quest mobile application (the "App"). By using the App you agree to this Policy. Questions can be sent to contact@sidequestcorp.com.

Who this applies to

Side Quest is intended only for users who are 17 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17. If we learn that we have collected information from a user under 17, we will delete it.

Information we collect

Account and profile information: your name or display name, username, email address, password credentials, profile photo, and any bio or profile details you provide. Authentication is handled through our backend provider (Supabase).

Quest submissions and user content: photos, videos, captions, and other content you upload as proof of completing a quest ("Submissions"). Submissions may include images of you, other people, locations, and surroundings.

Social and gameplay data: points, streaks, quest history, skip token usage, squad memberships, leaderboard standings, friends or connections, likes, comments, and other activity within social feeds.

Device and technical information: device model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers, app version, IP address, language settings, crash logs, and diagnostic and performance data.

Usage and analytics information: how you interact with the App, including features used, quests viewed and completed, session times, tap and navigation events, and referral or install source.

Approximate location: we may infer approximate location from your IP address. If a quest or feature requests precise location and you grant permission, we may collect precise geolocation. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings.

Purchase and subscription information: records of your subscriptions, in-app purchases, skip token purchases, and transaction history. Payments and subscription status are processed by our billing provider (RevenueCat) and the applicable app store. We do not store your full payment card details.

Advertising information: if you use the free ad-supported tier, our advertising partners may collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, and interaction data to serve and measure ads, subject to your device level ad tracking settings.

Communications: messages, support requests, feedback, and any information you send when you contact us.

How we use your information

Artificial intelligence and automated processing

Automated AI is core to how Side Quest works. When you upload a photo or video as proof of completing a quest, we send that Submission, along with related quest details, to a third party AI provider (Anthropic, using the Claude Vision API) to automatically analyze whether it appears to satisfy the quest. This analysis happens without human review in the ordinary course.

The image or video content of your Submission and associated quest context are transmitted to and processed by Anthropic to return a verification result, subject to Anthropic’s applicable terms and data handling practices.

We may also use AI and automated systems to help moderate content, detect prohibited or unsafe material, flag fraud or verification gaming, personalize quests and feeds, and improve our verification models and prompts.

AI verification and moderation are automated and imperfect. They may produce incorrect, incomplete, or unexpected results, including approving Submissions that should not have passed or rejecting Submissions that should have passed. Verification results, points, and streak outcomes are provided on an "as is" basis. Where required by law, you may contact us at contact@sidequestcorp.com to request human review of an automated decision that significantly affects you. By uploading a Submission, you consent to it being processed by us and our AI provider as described here.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share information with service providers that help us operate the App, including Supabase (backend and database), Anthropic (AI verification), RevenueCat (billing), Apple, Google, and Expo/EAS (distribution), and analytics and hosting providers.

We share advertising related data with advertising networks on the free tier. Depending on your jurisdiction, some ad related sharing may be considered a "sale" or "sharing" under privacy laws; you can limit this through your device settings and any in-app controls we provide.

Content you make public, such as your profile, Submissions posted to feeds, squad activity, leaderboard standing, comments, and likes, is visible to other users. We may also disclose information for legal and safety reasons, and in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the App, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Submissions and gameplay data may be retained after use for moderation, safety, and model improvement purposes.

Your choices and rights

You can access, update, or correct your profile in the App, delete your account, and adjust location, notification, camera, photo, and ad tracking permissions in your device settings. Depending on where you live (for example under the CCPA, other US state laws, or the GDPR), you may have additional rights to access, delete, correct, or port your data and to opt out of certain sharing or targeted advertising. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential.

International users

Side Quest is operated from the United States. If you use the App from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by other reasonable means and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
